SAVARRA MANTZOR

As a Pediatric Hospitalist at St. Luke's Magic Valley, working on the postpartum-baby unit, my everyday role allows me to advocate for the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and to continue to twelve months of life as solid foods are slowly introduced.

I work closely with our lactation nurses to help support mothers to achieve their goal- especially in the first few hours of life when breastfeeding can be very challenging for moms and babies.  Supporting families to achieve this goal is one of my favorite parts of my job!

As a mother of four, the personal experience of learning how to breastfeed a baby while being a working mom, learning how to use a pump and store milk, and balance life while simultaneously being the sole nutritional source for my baby! - has provided me wit a fresh perspective to connect and support families through these everyday challenges and together find practical solutions.
